Which winter tyres are best for Maserati Quattroporte?
Don't ever mix full cold weather tyres with summer tyres and don't use winter tyres in summer, especially where they will be subject to high temperatures. Sotto Zeros are Pirelli's high performance winter tyres. Michelin also does high performance winter tyres that offer amazing performance in snow (I've driven them on 911s and AMGs). If there is any chance you will be doing high speeds (in Germany), you must fit the high performance cold weather tyres all round.
Is the Maserati Quattroporte GT a good buy?
A friend of mine has a 3200V8 twin turbo torque converter auto that he bought cheaply a couple of years ago and that has been totally reliable. I don't have any feedback on the automated manual Quattroportes on the basis of which to advise you. Maybe Googling will get you somewhere.

Fabulous looking very classy four door Maserati echoing back to the famous Quattroporte of the 1960s.
5,052mm long by 1,895mm wide by 1,438mm high.
Powered by a 400bhp version of the 4.2 litre 32 valve V8. DuoSelect paddle shift automated clutch transaxle gearbox. 0-60mph in about 5 seconds. Top speed around 170mph. Best in black.

Two new versions from September 2005: Quattroporte EXECUTIVE GT with chrome mesh grille, side chrome grille, external identification plate, 9-spoke 19" ball-polished wheel rims, wood and leather interior, wood and leather steering wheel, roof section in Alcantara and a series of features dedicated to providing maximum comfort levels for passengers (including comfort pack for the rear seats and stowable rear table in wood or titanium).
Further personalisation options are available. Quattroporte SPORT GT with carbon fibre interior, 20" wheel rims with new design, external identification plate, sporty steering wheel and handbrake grip, aluminium pedal covers. Also latest gearbox software for a 35% faster shifting, newly designed exhaust system delivering an even more sporty sound and specific Skyhook software for electronic suspensions and shock absorbers.
December 2006
Announced December 2006, Quattroporte Automatic alongside the current Quattroporte DuoSelect. Quattroporte Automatic has all new hydraulic automatic six-speed ZF gearbox behind the engine rather than transaxle which ensures a smooth, fluid gear change while allowing for rapid shifting, for improved driving comfort. Officially launched at Detroit Motor Show January 2007. First RHD cars arrived in the UK for an official on sale date of 14-2-2007 at £77,000 OTR, same price as DuoSelect automated clutch version.

Quattroporte Sport GT S with automatic 6-speed gearbox. New suspension layout, features single rate dampers and a "racing" set up. uattroporte Sport GT S sits 10mm lower at the front and 25mm at the rear compared to other versions of the Quattroporte, and also features new, stiffer springs and dampers. Also has unique braking system developed in collaboration with Brembo. Dual-cast brake discs for first time on a road car. Dual-cast discs are made of two materials, cast iron and aluminium, to ensure optimised braking, improving performance in the most extreme conditions and providing greater resistance to fade even at the highest temperatures.
The Quattroporte Sport GT S's new braking system also benefits from new mono-block, six-piston callipers at the front and tyres developed especially for this car (front 245/35-R20 and rear 295/30-R20). The increased size of the rear tyres allows optimum use of the Maserati's V8 power, whilst the new tyre compound helps the brakes and set-up to guarantee a superior level of handling and driving emotion. Quattroporte Sport GT S's exterior is distinguished by a more aggressive look. Along with the black-chrome mesh front grille, a characteristic element of sporty Maseratis, the side window trims and the two double exhaust pipes are also in black, whilst door handles are in the same colour as the body of the car.
Extremely high specification Quattroporte "Collezione Cento" — of which just 100 will be produced launched at Detroit Motor Show January 2008 in a new ivory colour, with a contrasting coach line on the sides. 20" wheels are fitted with polished rims, chromed honeycomb front and side grilles. Poltrona Frau "Cuoio" coloured leather seats with diamond-shaped stitching and matching buttons in the centre, polished Wengé wood inserts on the steering wheel, centre console and small object compartment.
Mother of pearl inlays. Cuoio coloured leather is also used for the superior-weight overmats, enhanced by edges in contrasting Beige. Back seat passengers in the new Quattroporte find themselves in a multimedia paradise controlled by the Maserati Multimedia Entertainment system. Technology is housed in the rear centre armrest, which contains an AUX-IN socket, iPod docking station, SIM card port and a USB port so that passengers can view photographs, videos or listen to MP3/WMA tracks on other external devices. The car's sound system or the special Bluetooth headsets can also be used.
The armrest also features a built-in keypad for Internet browsing and email access, which can be folded away. As image also counts, especially when it comes to luxury, there are two real eye-catchers built into the back of the front seats: two 10.4" touch screens complete with a CD/DVD player built into the back of the centre receptacle. The Quattroporte Collezione Cento is fitted with a 4244 cc engine (400 bhp) paired with a hydraulic automatic 6-speed transmission that guarantees the same performance as the Quattroporte Automatic range.

Quattroporte and the Quattroporte S refreshed
Quattroporte fitted with 4.2 litre 400 hp V8 engine, while S adopts the new 4.7 litre 430 hp V8 recently introduced on the GranTurismo S, with a different specification. Both feature the 6-speed automatic transmission developed in association with ZF.
The main styling changes are: new grille, with its vertical slats, is reminiscent of the GranTurismo. Front and rear light units are also updated, featuring LEDs. Under-door moulding more noticeable, with a line that runs into that of the new bumpers, which have a wider protective band and more pronounced rear styling.
Door mirrors are also new, with a more dynamic shape and a more streamlined mounting to the door. Interior has new centre console and the controls are grouped more closely together for even more convenient operation. Navigation systems is also fully updated, now comprising the New Maserati Multimedia System. Two new shades of leather, Marrone Corniola (brown) and Sabbia (sand), replacing the beige which was previously in the range, debut on the Quattroporte S and Quattroporte respectively.
March 2009
Maserati Quattroporte "for Centurion" special series is exclusively built to order. Finished in metallic Nero Carbonio (carbon black), it features Bianco Polare (polar white) Poltrona Frau leather interior with embossed Centurion logo on the headrests, a bespoke numbered plaque, titanium coloured trim and 20" ball polished rims.
The Maserati Quattroporte for Centurion 4.2 is powered by an impressive 400 hp 4.2 litre V8 engine, powering the car to a top speed of 167 mph and allowing it to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.6 seconds. The fully automatic ZF gearbox ensures a smooth and responsive ride in all conditions.
With a 4.7 litre, 430 hp engine under the bonnet, the Maserati Quattroporte for Centurion 4.7 is propelled to an eye watering top speed of 174 mph with a blistering 0 to 62 mph time of just 5.4 seconds. The dual-cast brake discs, combined with the car's near perfect weight distribution ensure that the Maserati Quattroporte for Centurion 4.7 offers an unparalleled driving experience.
